Margaret “Peg” Walt, 88, a lifelong resident of Sellersville, passed away peacefully early Monday morning, July 30 in her home. She was the wife of the late Clarence B. Walt, who passed away in 1969.
Born in Sellersville, she was the daughter of the late William and Helen (Strauss) Knauff. She had lived in the same home in Sellersville for 70 years.
Mrs. Walt was a homemaker most of her life. She had been employed for many years in the 1930’s and 1940’s with the former Poultry Item, Sellersville. Later, she had been employed in sales with the former W.T. Grant Co., Souderton and then several years in sales with the former Woolco, Souderton before retiring in 1983.
She was also a majority inspector with the 3rd Voting Ward of Sellersville for over 30 years.
She was a 70- year member of St. Paul’s United Church of Christ, Sellersville where she had been in charge of the Altar Flowers for over 20 years. She also had been an active member of the Women’s Guild of the church. She played pinochle and canasta.
Mrs. Walt is survived by one son, Bruce Walt, Sellersville; a sister, Mae Detweiler, and her husband, Nevin, Sellersville; a brother, Carl Knauff, and his wife, Elaine, San Antonio, Texas; and a niece and several nephews.
She was preceded in death by her two brothers, William and James.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral service Friday, August 3, at 2:00 PM in the Betty Meier Steeley Funeral Home, 87 North Main Street, Sellersville. A Calling Hour will precede the service on Friday beginning at 1:00 PM at the Funeral Home.
Interment in Sellersville Cemetery.
