Wallace Rowland Choate passed away peacefully at Lutheran Community at Telford on August 12, 2025, at the age of 90. He was the husband of Marlene Gressel Choate, with whom he shared 34 years of marriage. Wallace lost his first wife, Patricia Tierney Choate, in 1989, also after 34 years of marriage.
Born on April 28, 1935, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late Wallace Choate and the late Elsie Fest Choate.
He attended the Dobbins School in Philadelphia and then did odd jobs in his early years before becoming a butcher. He remained in northeast Philadelphia until 1969, when he moved his family to Fairview Village (PA). He worked as a mechanical draftsman at Wiedeman Division in King of Prussia, PA. In 1992, his company moved to North Carolina where he lived until his retirement, and then moved back to Perkasie, PA. He enjoyed fishing and crabbing in Forked River, NJ, where he had a house for many years, mostly with his brother, Bob.
He was also an avid Eagles and Phillies sports fan.
He is survived by his two daughters, Dorothy Shupard and her husband, James of Pottstown, PA and Patricia McCreary of St. Cloud, FL; one sister, Anne M. Choate of Pottstown, PA; six grandchildren, Jennifer, Gregory, Patrick, Connor, and Holly; and nine great-grandchildren, Devin, Hannah, Nina, Dylan, Vyla, Henry, Mykala, Aubrielle, and Nikiah.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was predeceased by his son, Wallace Choate III, his grandson Jeffrey, and a brother, Robert.
Funeral services for Wallace will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, August 18, 2025, at St. Andrew's Lutheran Church, 20 Dill Avenue, Perkasie, PA 18944. In honor of Wallace, guests are welcome to wear their favorite Phillies or Eagles sports jersey. A viewing before the service will be from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the church. Interment will be in Limerick Garden of Memories in Limerick, PA.
