Susan J. Garber

Susan Jane Garber, age 74, of Perkasie, Pennsylvania, passed away on June 22, 2026, at her home in Perkasie, PA. She was the wife of Ronald Garber, with whom she shared 53 years of marriage. Born in Peoria, IL, she was the daughter of the late Russell Gustin and the late Hazel (Deck) Gustin.

Suzie grew up in Eureka, Illinois, in a close-knit community. After high school, she studied psychology but later pivoted to work in accounting after marrying Ron. She worked in her field for several years before beginning the chapter of life she cherished most—raising her three daughters. She devoted herself to her family, creating a home filled with warmth, learning, and creativity. She homeschooled her daughters for part of their education and took joy in learning alongside them, nurturing their curiosity.

In her spare time, Suzie enjoyed flower gardening and home decorating. A talented and creative person, she also spent many years sewing and quilting—crafts through which she expressed her eye for beauty and her desire to make things that brought comfort to others. In her early years, she also enjoyed making detailed pen-and-ink drawings.

The most important role in Suzie’s life was that of being Mimi to her grandchildren, and spending time with them brought her immeasurable joy. Whether she was attending their activities, listening to their stories, or laughing beside them, she cherished every moment. Her grandchildren knew her as a gentle, fun, and loving presence.

She will be remembered for her kindness, her creativity, and the way she made every space feel like home. She will be missed for her ready laugh, her devotion to her family, and the love she gave so freely.

In addition to her husband, Suzie is survived by her daughters, Amanda Martin (Luke), Heidi Aubertin (Mike), and Betsy Martin (JonAaron); her grandchildren, Lela, Rylie, Aubrielle, Jake, Collin, and Avery; and her brothers, Don Gustin (Diana) and Ron Gustin (Suzanne). In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her granddaughter, Liza Jane.

A celebration of Suzie’s life will be announced on a future date.
