Larry D. Summerville

Larry D. Summerville, of Sellersville, formerly of Mountville (Lancaster County), and Falls Church, Virginia, passed away Saturday evening, October 1, in the Rockhill Mennonite Community, West Rockhill Township. He was the beloved husband of Mary Alice (D' Almeida) Summerville for 27 years. He was 75.

Born in Detroit, Michigan, he was a son of the late Henry D. and Myrtle (Waters) Summerville. He grew up in Toronto, Canada and came to the United States when he enlisted in the U.S. Navy at age 17 in 1947. During his career with the Navy, he was a Senior Chief Petty Officer during the Korean and Vietnam Wars, serving with the 7th Fleet, the 6th Fleet, and NATO in Naples and Italy. He retired from the Navy in 1967.

Larry had been employed for over 25 years as a broadcast analyst with the law firm of Haley, Bader & Potts, Washington, DC. He also was the former president of Radio Station 92.1 Gold, Greencastle, PA.

He was a member of the Fleet Reserve Association and the American Legion.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by three children: Rick Summerville and his wife, Jan, Millersville, MD; Lori Ryan and her husband, Jim, Brick, NJ and Sheri Summerville and Wayne Boulden, Rising Sun, MD; two sisters: Beverly Summerville, Kelowna, B.C., Canada and Shirley Manzer, Port Perry, Ontario, Canada; one brother: Murray Summerville, London, Ontario, Canada; four grandchildren: Ryan, Rick, Dan and Stacey; and his previous wife, Jeanette (Smith) Summerville, Laurel, MD.

His funeral service will be held Wednesday, October 5, at 11:00 AM in the Betty Meier Steeley Funeral Home, 87 North Main Street, Sellersville. Family and friends may call Wednesday morning at the funeral home from 9:00 AM until 11:00 AM.

Interment will be in St. John Neumann Cemetery, Chalfont.
