Herman C. Stiegler
January 22, 1917 — March 13, 2007
Herman C. Stiegler, 90, of Perkasie, went to be with the Lord, early Tuesday morning, March 13, at his residence. He was the beloved husband for the past 25 years of Florence (Cieslak) Zukow Steigler and the late Alice Helen (Weil) Stiegler.
Born on January 22, 1917, in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late Christian and Bertha (Kinkel) Stiegler. He was a member of the first graduating class of Olney High School in 1934.
Mr. Stiegler had worked 35 years with the United States Post Office, in Philadelphia and Doylestown.
He was a long-time member of the Hilltown Baptist Church, Hilltown where he had assisted with the Tree Climbers and had entertained area nursing home residents with his piano and organ music.
Mr. Stiegler had spent the last 25 years volunteering, along with his wife, at Grand View Hospital and at local nursing homes.
He was an avid sports fan as well as an accomplished musician. He also enjoyed gardening, painting , drawing and deep-sea fishing. Most of all, he was the best husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather one could ever have.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his seven children: Alice Reed, Telford: Eleanor Henne and Jane Spayd, both of Fleetwood; Paul Zukow, Corona, CA; Cathleen Schuster and Beverly Miller , both of Ottsville, and James Zukow, Perkasie; 18 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his first wife, he was preceded in death by a son, Robert C, Stiegler, who died in 1998; and two sisters: Frances Kelly and Ruth Sadowl.
His Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, March 25 at 1:00 PM in the Chapel of Hilltown Baptist Church, Upper Church and Stump Roads, Hilltown.
