William N. Smith, Jr., 61, of Sellersville, formerly of Perkasie and Lansdale, passed away Tuesday, February 21 in Grand View Hospital, West Rockhill Township. He was the beloved husband of Linda (Bauknecht) Zegray-Smith. They were married 8 years.
Born in Lansdale, he was the son of William N., Sr. and Kathryn (Howe) Smith, Hamburg. He was a 1962 graduate of North Penn High School where he played on the baseball, basketball and soccer teams, making several All Bux-Mont League All Star Teams. He was also a graduate of Taylor School of Business, Philadelphia.
Bill had been employed for many years as a lab technician with MOPAC, Franconia. Prior to that, he had owned a Sporting Goods Store in Green Lane and had worked in Sales with various companies in the area.
He was an avid hunter and fisherman who enjoyed history, music and the theater. Bill had volunteered for several years with the Laymen Playmen, Hatfield.
In addition to his wife and parents, he is survived by his two children: Steven W. Smith, Lansdale and Suzanne Smith, Philadelphia; two step-sons: Paul M. Zegray, Jr., Quakertown and Steven M. Zegray, Bedminster; one sister: Linda K. Wesner and her husband, Donald, Hamburg.
His Memorial Service will be held Sunday afternoon, March 19 at 3:00 PM in Fairview Village Church of the Nazarene, 3044 West Gernantown Pike, Fairview Village.
