Richard A. Curtiss

Richard “Dick” Albert Curtiss, of Oakville, CT, passed away on Monday, September 28, 2026. He was 86.

He was the husband of Donna J. (Turschmann) Curtiss; together they had shared 49 loving years of marriage.

Born in Waterbury, CT, Dick was the son of the late Albert and Ethel (Nelson) Curtiss.

Dick graduated from Seymour High School, Seymour, CT in the Class of 1958. After high school, he attended the University of Connecticut School of Agriculture, where he earned an associate’s degree.

Mr. Curtiss was employed by UPS in Stratford, CT for 42 years, retiring in 2002 as a tractor trailer driver.

He was a member of Great Hill Methodist Church, Seymour, CT.

In his free time, Dick had enjoyed volunteering at the Oxford Center Fire Company, where he had served as treasurer for 25 years.

Above all else, he loved his family deeply and cherished the time spent with them.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his three children: Rychard Curtiss (Kathy), Wendy Johns (Jeff), and Bonnie Schoening (Brian); his grandson, Elijah Schoening; his sister, Lois Hummel (Paul); and extended family and friends.
