William J. Reckner

December 6, 1922 — November 12, 2003

William J. Reckner, 80 of Hilltown, passed away on Wednesday, November 12 in Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township. He was the beloved husband of Mary T. (Ruland) Reckner. They were married 55 years.

Born in Dover, Delaware, he was the son of the late William and Ida (Champagne) Reckner.

He was a US Navy veteran serving stateside during World War II.

Mr. Reckner had been employed as an inspector for 35 years with the US Gauge Division, Ametek, Inc., Sellersville before retiring in 1986. He later was in charge of security at Penn Color, Hatfield and had also worked as a Pinkerton Detective in the Philadelphia area.

During the 1980's, he was Head Constable in Hilltown and was very active with the Republican party. He was a member for over 50 years of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Hilltown where he served as an usher. Mr. Reckner was a 4th Degree member of the Knights of Columbus, Lansdale. He also was a member of the Sellersville Moose # 1539 and the La Crest Swim Club, Lansdale.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by one daughter, Beverlie Zukow , Villa Park, California and one son, Thomas M. Reckner, Hil1town; two brothers: Charles and Joseph, both of Lansdale; two sisters: Annette Nichols, Hatfield and Catherine Kauflie, Sebring, Florida; two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, November 17 at 10:30 AM in Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Route 152 and Broad Street, Hilltown. Family and Friends may call Monday morning at the church, from 9:00 AM until 10:15 AM.

Interment in the parish cemetery.
