Adalberto R. Pontes, 84, of Souderton, passed away Thursday morning, January 17 in St. Luke's Quakertown Hospital. He was the husband of Maria Helena (Pedroso) Pontes. They were married 62 years.
Born in Vila Real, Portugal, he was a son of the late Antonio Evaristo and Ana (Conceicao) Pontes. He came to this country In 1967 and lived in Ambler until moving to Souderton in 1973.
Mr. Pontes was a professional tailor and designer in his native country of Portugal. He was employed as a tailor with the former Louis Goldsmith Company, Souderton for many years before retiring in 1981.
He was a Catholic.
Early in his life, he had played saxophone with his father's band in Portugal. He enjoyed watching television and being the patriarch of his loving family.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by: two (2) daughters: Anabela Lobo and her husband, Carlos, Quakertown and Teresa Mains and her husband, John, Doylestown; one (1) son: John Pontes and his wife, Jane, Sellersville; one (1) sister: Carolina Baptista, Porto, Portugal; 8 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
Friends and family are Invited to his Funeral Service on Tuesday, January 22 at 11:00 AM in the Betty Meier Steeley Funeral Home, 87 North Main Street, Sellersville. Friends may call Tuesday from 10 AM until time of service at the funeral home.
Interment in Holy Cross Cemetery, Pennsburg.
