Marian E. Phoebus of Perkasie died Wednesday, Sept. 15, 2004, in her home. She was 97.
She was the wife of Lindsay Phoebus, who died in 1979.
Born in Perkasie, she was a daughter of the late John Wellington and Amelia Elizabeth (Headman) Egolf.
Mrs. Phoebus had been a home economics teacher for many years with the Hilltown and Quakertown school districts, retiring in 1965. She helped establish the local food pantry, Pennridge FISH (Fellowship in Serving Humanity) organization, serving as its first director.
She was a longtime member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Perkasie, where she had sung in the choir. She was a 50 year member of the Women's Club of Perkasie and a member of the Perkasie Historical Society, where she had volunteered selling hot dogs when the Perkasie carousel was in operation.
Mrs. Phoebus enjoyed cooking, gardening and helping others in the community.
She is survived by one niece, Amelia Wilson of Michigan City, Ind. and several cousins.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Elizabeth Roberts.
Her funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 20, in Betty Meier Steeley Funeral Home, 87 N. Main St., Sellersville, where friends may call from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.
Interment will be in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, Perkasie.
