Robert E Pennington, 90, a lifelong resident of the Sellersville area, passed away Sunday evening, June 25 in the Lutheran Community at Telford. He was the beloved husband of the late Florence E. (Worthington) Spanninger Pennington who died in 2001.
Born in Philadelphia, he was a son of the late Nathan and Elizabeth (Pealer) Pennington. Bob was a graduate of Sell-Perk High School and Drexel University, where he received a degree in Mechanical Engineering.
He owned and operated the former Pennington and Pealer Wholesale and Retail Paint Store, Sellersville, before retiring in 1981.
Bob was a lifetime member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ, Sellersville, where he had served as an usher. He was also a life member of the Sellersville Fire Department.
He enjoyed sailing and gardening.
Bob is survived by a sister, Rebecca E. Walton, Telford; three step-sons: Charles J. Spanninger, Florida; Robert L. Spanninger, Perkasie; and Dr. Philip A. Spanninger, Ohio; four nieces, two nephews, and several cousins.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by a brother, James Nathan Pennington.
His funeral service will be held on Friday, June 30 at 11:00 AM in St. Paul's United Church of Christ, 104 Green Street, Sellersville. Relatives and friends may call Friday morning at the church from 10:00 AM until time of service.
