Charles M. Pekar Sr., a life long resident of Sellersville, passed away Wednesday, December 31, 2003, in Quakertown Center Genesis Eldercare. He was 71.
He was the beloved husband of Emilie (Class) Pekar. They were married 4S years.
Born in Sellersville, he was the son of the late John and Mary (Sudik) Pekar.
He had been employed for more than 43 years as a machinist with the U.S. Gauge Division, Ametek, Inc. in Sellersville before retiring in 1994.
Mr. Pekar was a U.S. Army Veteran, having served in the Korean War.
He was a lifelong member of St. Agnes Catholic Church, Sellersville. He also was a member of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers Union and the Lehigh Valley Timing Association, Allentown.
Mr. Pekar was an experienced drag racer who enjoyed working on automobiles and race cars.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Daniel Burke and Charles M. Pekar Jr. and his fiancée, Heidi Scheffler, all of Sellersville; a daughter, Charlene DeLan and her husband, Paul, of Telford; . and a granddaughter, Angela Klock and her husband, Bryan, of Ply mouth Meeting. He was preceded in death by a sister, Jennie Pekar.
His funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, January 5, in Betty Meier Steeley Funeral Home, 87 N. Main St., Sellersville, where family and friends may call 'from. 9:30.
Interment will be in Greenlawn Cemetery, Upper Gwynedd Township.
