R. Brooke Moyer, 70, a life-long resident of Hilltown Township, died Friday evening, February 23, in Doylestown Hospital. He was the beloved husband of Sheila (Henderson) Moyer for 46 years.
Born in West Rockhill Township, he was a son of the late Ralph and Ethel (Bishop) Moyer.
He was a 1954 graduate of Pennridge High School. He was also a graduate of Albright College, Reading and Lehigh University, Bethlehem.
Brooke had been an educator, principal and basketball coach for the Souderton School District for 35 years. He had been principal of Indian Valley Jr. High School, Harleysville for over 20 years, before retiring in 1993.
He was a long-time member of Zion Mennonite Church, Souderton, where he had served as an usher.
Always athletically involved, Brooke was an avid golfer and had been a baseball coach with the Deep Run Sports Association. In 2004 he was inducted into the Pennridge-Quakertown Sports Hall of Fame.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Christopher T. Moyer, Philadelphia; a grandson, Benjamin J. Moyer; and a brother, James R. Moyer and his wife, Marianne, Coopersburg.
He was preceded in death by a son, Jeffrey B. Moyer, who died in 1994.
His Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, February 28 at 1:00 PM in Zion Mennonite Church, 149 Cherry Lane, Souderton, PA 18964. Family and friends may call at the church, Wednesday, from 12:00 PM until time of service. Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to his church at the above address.
