Mildred Naomi Moyer of Quakertown claimed her Baptismal Promise on Wednesday, November 5, 2014, in Quakertown Center - Genesis HealthCare, Quakertown. She was 99.
She was the beloved wife of the late Marvin Z. Moyer, who died in 1986.
Born in Telford, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Eva (Leister) Mitch.
Primarily a homemaker, Mrs. Moyer had been employed at the former Kollsman Motor Corporation, Dublin and, with her husband, as a sexton at their church.
She was the oldest member of St. Matthew's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Perkasie, where she had participated with WELCA. She had also been a leader of the Children of the Church group.
With her husband, Mildred had been active with the Belles and Beaus Square Dancing Club. When her children were young, she had served as a Cub Scout den mother.
An avid reader, especially of non-fiction, Mildred also enjoyed cooking, flower gardening, knitting, and playing cards. She loved to sing and was her family’s musical inspiration. Along with her husband, she had enjoyed travel to every state, including Alaska and Hawaii.
Mrs. Moyer is survived by her two daughters, Sandra K. Wolf, of Allentown; Gayle Moyer King and her husband, Paul, of Quakertown; seven grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and a great-great-granddaughter.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Lt. JG. Kerry J. Moyer, who died in 1972, and a sister, Evelyn Walker.
Her memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, November 10, in St. Matthew's Lutheran Church, 3668 Ridge Road, Perkasie, PA 18944, where a visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until time of service.
Interment will be in Quakertown Union Cemetery.
