William G. Mathis. 73, of Perkasie, passed away Tuesday, April 23, at his residence. He was the husband of the late Katharine (Horn) Mathis who died in 1995.
Born in Cross Keys, New Jersey, he was a son of the late Rev. Edward H. and Emma (Pfautz) Mathis.
He had been employed for 30 years in the Collection Department of the former Lit Brothers Department Store, Philadelphia and later he had worked a few years for the Allied Collection Agency, Philadelphia.
Mr. Mathis had been an active member of Carpenter's House Evangelical Church, Quakertown where he had served as Treasurer and had taught Sunday School. He was also a member of the Pennridge Senior Center where he had played in the "Off-Beats" musical group.
He is survived by one (1) brother: Fred Mathis and his wife, Ella Louise, Perkasie and several cousins, nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral service, Monday, April 29 at 11:00 AM in St. Andrew's Ev. Lutheran Church, Dill Avenue and Chestnut Street, Perkasie. Friends may call Monday morning, from 10:00 AM until time of service at the church.
Interment In Arlington Cemetery, Drexel Hill.
