Marion B. Evans

Marion B. Evans, composer, arranger, conductor, and music producer, passed away on July 22, 2026, after a career in music spanning more than six decades.

Evans was widely respected as one of the industry’s most accomplished arrangers, contributing to film, television, big band, jazz, pop, and orchestral recordings. Over the course of his career, he worked with many of the most notable artists of his time, including Tony Bennett and Lady Gaga, Judy Garland, Doc Severinsen, Helen O’Connell, Tommy Dorsey, the Glenn Miller Orchestra, and many others. His arrangements were known for their clarity, musical intelligence, and ability to support and elevate the performers he collaborated with.

Before his career in music, Evans served honorably in the United States Navy and Marine Corps during World War II. His military service remained an important part of his identity and reflected the discipline and work ethic he carried throughout his life.

Evans was known by colleagues and friends for his professionalism, dry humor, and brilliant presence in the recording studio. He valued collaboration and took pride in helping artists bring their work to life.

He is survived by his wife, Theresa Evans, and his stepson, Thomas Hildebrand.

His work continues to be heard in recordings and performances around the world, and his influence remains in the generations of musicians and arrangers he inspired.

The family extends its heartfelt gratitude to everyone who offered their love, friendship, and support throughout Marion's life. A private family memorial service with military honors will be held at Washington's Crossing Cemetery in his remembrance.
