Nancy R. Madgey, "Memom", of Sellersville, formerly of Montgomerville, passed away Sunday morning, October 12 in Grand View Hospital, West Rockhill Township. She was the beloved wife of the late Robert Madgey who died in 1989. She was 66.
Born in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late Rev. Robert and Ruth Lang (Winterberg) Nelson. She had been a resident of Sellersville for over 10 years.
Nancy had been employed for over 20 years with the Colonial School District in Plymouth Meeting in various secretarial positions and as a lunchroom monitor and teacher's aide. She most recently had been employed by Grand View Hospital as the assistant director of the Volunteers and Volunteens. She was also was a volunteer herself assisting with the gift shop at Grand View.
She was an active member of St. Andrew's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Perkasie, where she was serving as financial secretary and was a member of the Senior Choir and was an organist and pianist. Also at the church she had served on Church Council and was a past chairperson of the Worship and Music Committee. Nancy was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Sellersville Fire Department and the Women of the Moose, Chapter 471, Sellersville. She was also a popular supply organist at many area churches.
Nancy was a devoted mother and a wonderful "Memom". She and her family faced many difficult times as they coped with the tragic loss of her son. Throughout it all, Nancy was always able to help others with kindness and compassion. A true music lover, Nancy enjoyed playing the piano and organ. She also loved the theatre and enjoyed gardening. She touched the lives of many friends and strangers and will be sadly missed by all.
Nancy is survived by her loving daughter, Joan L. Grasmeder and her husband, Robert J., Jr. of Perkasie; two grandchildren: Robert J. Grasmeder, III and Jennifer L. Grasmeder, both of Perkasie, and her faithful, loveable dog, Butterscotch. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved son, Robert Scott Campbell, who died on March 31, 1983.
Her Memorial Service will be held Thursday evening, October 16 at 7:00 PM in St. Andrew's Ev. Lutheran Church, Dill Avenue and Chestnut Street, Perkasie. Family and friends may call at the church on Thursday evening, from 6:00 PM until 7:00 PM.
Interment will be held on Friday, October 17 in Whitemarsh Memorial Park. Everyone is invited to attend the interment and requested to gather at the cburch Friday morning at 10:00 AM for the funeral procession to the cemetery.
