Betty C. Konyk, 68, of Sellersville, passed away Tuesday, April 30, in St. Luke's Hospital, Fountain Hill after being suddenly stricken at her store in Souderton. She was the wife of the late John E. Konyk, who passed away in 1998.
Born in Sellersville, she was a daughter of the late Donald and Elizabeth (Landis) Kuhn. She had lived in Sellersville for over 43 years.
She had been the owner and operator of the popular children’s shoe store, Town House Shoes, Souderton, which she established in 1970. Mrs. Konyk went to school and became a certified pedorthlst and has been a long-standing member of the Prescription Footwear Association. Upon graduating from the former Hatfield High School, she graduated from the Lansdale School of Business in 1951.
Mrs. Konyk loved children and had sponsored local teams for midget football, Little League and soccer. In 2001 she was honored as Woman of the Year by the American Biographical Institute .
She had been a long-time member of St. Agnes Catholic Church, Sellersville, where she had served as past president of the Mother's Guild and hosted the annual Silver and Gold Club picnic for many years.
Mrs. Konyk was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and sister whose sense of serving others in need was unrivaled. She enjoyed dancing, traveling, cooking and hosting family and friends. An avid gardener, she had a passion for raising roses. Her quiet and kind deeds will be remembered by many.
She is survived by four (4) sons: John Douglas and his wife, Carol, of Lansdale; Craig Stephen and his wife, Matilda, of Brooklyn, NY; Brian Joseph and his wife, Lori , of Palmdale, California and David Lawrence of Philadelphia; two (2) daughters: Diane Konyk Brandt, of Sellersville; and Carla Marie Konyk-Tulp, and her husband, Orien, of Cambridge, England; one (1) sister: Lois Kuhn DeSantis ,of Hatfield and three (3) brothers: Donald Kuhn and his wife, Vesta, of Coopersburg; Robert Kuhn and his wife, Letiti, of Souderton and Benjamin Kuhn and his wife, Linda, of Lansdale; seven (7) grandchildren: Jennifer, Katie, Brendan, Amy, Anje Alexander and Anastasia.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial, Monday, May 6, at 11:00 AM in St. Agnes Catholic Church, 445 North Main Street, Sellersvllle, PA 18960. Family and friends may call Monday morning at the church, from 9:00 AM until 10:45 AM.
Interment in the parish cemetery.
