Nancy J. Knapp

January 11, 1938 — September 8, 2023

Nancy J. Knapp, of Telford, formerly a long-time resident of Sellersville, passed away on Friday, September 8, 2023, in the Community at Rockhill, West Rockhill Township. She was 85.

She was the beloved wife of the late G. Leonard Knapp for 47 years until his death in 2014.

Born in Sellersville, she was the daughter of the late Robert M. and Grace A. (Stauffer) Moyer, of Blooming Glen.

Nancy was a 1955 graduate of Pennridge High School, Perkasie. She next attended the Philadelphia Bible Institute for two years and graduated from Houghton College, New York in 1960.

Nancy had been employed as a teacher by the Pennridge School District at Hilltown Elementary School, where she met her future husband. She was later employed by the Central Bucks School District in the Plumstead Township elementary schools.

Following the birth of her children, Mrs. Knapp would work as a substitute teacher for Pennridge; as a seamstress for Wispese Company, of Perkasie; and as an assembler for Emico, Inc., of Dublin; and Accu-Sort Systems, of Telford.

A long-time member of St. Andrew’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Perkasie, Nancy had attended Calvary Mennonite Church, of Souderton, prior to her marriage.

An avid needlewoman, Nancy always enjoyed crocheting and knitting. The summers of 1969 and 1970 were spent on the road traveling the United States with her husband as a part of Circus Kirk, a Lutheran Church-sponsored circus, where Leonard presented his reptile sideshow.

In later years, after retirement, Nancy and Len enjoyed winter trips to Florida to visit family, while also continuing to travel throughout the tri-state area with Leonard’s many reptile programs.

Mrs. Knapp is survived by her two daughters: Bethanne G. Cassidy and her husband, Daniel, of Hatfield, Rhonda E. Geyer and her husband, Brian, of Souderton; a granddaughter, Sydney Geyer; a brother, Robert L. Moyer, and his wife, Lorraine, of Blooming Glen; a brother-in-law, Kenneth Knapp, and his wife, Elizabeth, of Spinnerstown; a sister-in-law, Eileen Bengtson, and her husband, Paul, of Mystic, CT; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by an infant daughter and a sister, Patricia Freed, and her husband, Glenn.

Her funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, September 15, in St. Andrew’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 20 Dill Avenue, Perkasie, PA 18944, where a viewing will be held from 9:30 a.m. until time of service.

Interment will follow in St. Andrew’s Union Cemetery, Perkasie.
