Harry James “Jim” Franklin passed peacefully on Tuesday, May 6, 2025, while surrounded by his family.

He was the husband of Donna M. Gruszka, with whom he had shared 41 years of marriage.

Born in Valparaiso, Chile, he was the son of the late Harry Francis and Corina (Araya) Franklin.

Harry graduated from Hunter College with a bachelor's degree in 1969. He later earned master's degrees from the University of Wisconsin at Madison in 1971 and the University of Louisville in 1981.

A career military officer faithfully serving our country in the Army as a Chief Warrant Officer, Harry retired on June 1, 2003.

He was a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church, Sellersville.

Harry enjoyed model railroading, tinkering with cars, and traveling to historical sites.

He will be remembered for his dry sense of humor, his selflessness, his devotion to his country, and the unwavering encouragement he gave to his family.

In addition to being a loving husband, he was a dedicated father to his children; Luke (Nicole) Franklin, Jack Franklin, Ursula Franklin, and Torie Franklin. He was also the proud grandfather of Oscar, Margot, Deacon, and Ximena.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Sigrid R. “Sigi” Franklin.

You are invited to join with Jim’s family and friends at his viewing, from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 15, 2025, in the Betty Meier Steeley Funeral Home, 87 N. Main St, Sellersville, PA 18960.

Jim will be laid to rest in Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, VA with full military honors at a later date.
