Lawrence Godlewski, 78,of West Rockhill Township, formerly of Perkasie, entered eternal life on Saturday, March 29, in St. Luke's Hospital, Bethlehem. He was the beloved husband of Marie (Biehn) Godlewski. They were married 47 years.
Born in Trumbauersville, he was a son of the late Victor and Helen (Orbanes) Godlewski. He had lived the last 33 years in West Rockhill Township.
He was a U.S. Army veteran, having served in the China-Burma-India Theater during World War II. After the war he took a brief respite from the service and then re-enlisted to serve our country in Germany for eight years. He earned the rank of Master Sergeant while being assigned to heavy equipment maintenance. He served a total of 11 years.
Larry had been employed for many years as a diesel mechanic with Berman Sales, Allentown and North Penn Transfer and Del-Val International Truck, Inc., both of Lansdale, before retiring in 1990. He had previously worked for the former Lewis Vulcanizing, Perkasie.
He was a longtime member of St. Agnes Catholic Church, Sellersville.
Larry enjoyed hunting, gardening, and woodcrafting.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three sisters and one brother. He was the dear brother of Victoria Domino and her husband, Joseph, of Mays Landing, NJ; Eleanor Marsteller, of Perkasie; Lenore Souder and her husband, James, of Perkasie; and Victor Godlewski and his wife, Elaine, of DeLand, FL. Larry was the favorite uncle of several nieces and nephews, who will miss him dearly.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, April 3, at 10:00 AM in St. Agnes Catholic Church, 445 North Main Street, Sellersville. Family and friends may call Wednesday evening, April 2 from 7:00 PM until 8:30 PM and on Thursday morning, from 8:30 AM until 9:30 AM at the Betty Meier Steeley Funeral Home, 87 North Main Street, Sellersville.
Interment will be in St. John Neumann Cemetery, Warrington Township.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Agnes Catholic Church, 445 North Main Street, Sellersville, PA 18960.
