Gary L. Wenger

Gary Lane Wenger, 70, of Sellersville, passed away on Tuesday, August 4, 2026, in Doylestown Hospital.

Born in Sellersville, Gary was the son of the late Frank W., Jr. and Alma (Fosbenner) Wenger.

Gary was a 1974 graduate of Pennridge High School. While in high school, he was a member of the gymnastics team as well as the percussion section of the marching band. He attended Kutztown University, where he studied elementary education.

He was a member of St. Paul’s United Church of Christ, Sellersville.

Gary had worked at the former U. S. Gauge Division, Ametek, Inc., Sellersville, as a precision machine operator, enjoying it so much that he remained there for three years. He had also been employed at The Limeport Inn, The Ferndale Inn, The Plumsteadville Inn, The Washington House, and McCoole’s/Red Lion Inn, eventually, retiring from The Brick Tavern Inn in 2026.

A volunteer at the Pennridge Gallery of the Arts, which his father had founded, he also volunteered at the Holiday House Pool in Sellersville. and was active with The Sellersville Museum.

His passion for life extended well beyond his professional endeavors. In his free time, Gary enjoyed gardening, tending to his indoor and outdoor flowering plants. Amongst his favorites were calla lilies, night blooming cereus, orchids, passion flowers, and the crown imperial.

Quite the art aficionado, he was good friends with Robert Baum, whose father was renowned Bucks County Impressionist and Sellersville resident, Walter Baum. This relationship provided Gary the opportunity to experience Walter’s work and extensive art collection firsthand.

He was happiest when he was drinking his morning coffee and his evening White Russian or J&B Scotch and water cocktail. He loved watching Penn State football and Villanova basketball games, as well as supporting Philadelphia and Pittsburgh teams. He always had a special place in his heart for Pittsburgh; he loved the city and all of its sports teams, especially the Steelers.

Always interested in the British monarchy, he was an avid follower of past and present queens of Great Britain. He enjoyed watching old movies, especially ones that starred Katharine Hepburn, Bette Davis, or Joan Crawford. He also watched many old TV show reruns, including “The Golden Girls,” “The Nanny,” “I Love Lucy,” “The Andy Griffith Show,” and “All in the Family,” along with British sitcoms, “Keeping Up Appearances” and “Are You Being Served?”.

Art- themed jigsaw puzzles were a popular activity with him and his best friend Kevin. As a team they would assemble, mount, frame, and hang the puzzles on their walls for future appreciation. They also organized annual March Madness and Fantasy Football leagues for all of their friends to participate in and enjoy.

Gary was a very kind soul and had a large following in the community. He loved many of his regular customers and looked forward to seeing them on a regular basis. They followed him throughout his career, wherever he went. They were loyal to him, and he was to them in return. Quick-witted, he had a dry sense of humor that appealed to everyone he knew.

Above all else, he loved his friends and family deeply and cherished the time spent with them.

Gary will be dearly missed by his best friend, Kevin Hoffman; his brother, Jay Wenger, and his wife Patricia; his niece, Jodi Wenger, and her wife Becky; his nephew, Dan Wenger, and his wife Jen and their son Levi; along with his extended family members and friends.

All are invited to view Gary on Tuesday, August 11, 2026, from 10:30 a.m.-12 p.m. at Naugle Funeral & Cremation Service, Ltd., 135 W. Pumping Station Road, Quakertown, PA 18951. His funeral service will begin at 12 p.m., followed by burial in Sellersville Cemetery. A reception/luncheon at the Brick Tavern Inn, Quakertown, will follow the interment.
