Christian J. Freiler, 90, formerly of Willow Grove, died Tuesday, October 17, in Phoebe Richland Health Care Center, Richlandtown. He was the beloved husband of Margaret B. (Hraedel) Freiler, who died October 29, 2003.
Born in Minersville, PA, he was a son of the late Christian and Theresa (Miller) Freiler. He had worked in the coal mines before moving to Philadelphia with his wife.
Mr. Freiler had worked for the Budd Company, Penn-Jersey Shipbuilding Company, the Philadelphia Naval Shipyard and Container Corporation of America, all in Philadelphia. He retired in 1977.
He was a member for over 50 years of St. David's Roman Catholic Church, Willow Grove.
Mr. Freiler was a U.S. Navy veteran, having served during World War II.
He was a former member of the Second Alarmers Rescue Squad, Willow Grove.
He was very proud of his service to our country, and he loved to help others. He also enjoyed Sousa marches, country music, wildlife and walking with his wife.
He is survived by his son, Philip C. Freiler, and his wife, Rita, of Roslyn, PA; daughter, Lorraine R. Lapetina and her husband, Michael, of Hilltown Township; one sister, Theresa Franklin, Bellmawr, NJ; eight grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren; and a daughter-in-law, Rachel Freiler, of Missouri City, Texas.
In addition to is wife, he was preceded in death by a son, Jim Freiler; two brothers, Joe and Gerad; and a sister, Delphine.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, October 23, at 10:00 AM in St. Agnes Catholic Church, 445 North Main Street, Sellersviille. Friends may call Monday morning from 9:00 AM until 9:50 AM in the church.
Interment will be in Whitemarsh Memorial Park, Prospectville.
