Michael J. Frei, 91, formerly of Eastham, MA, passed away in his sleep Sunday, August 20, in the Rockhill Mennonite Community, West Rockhill Township. He was the loving husband of the late Helen (Gathy) Frei, who died in 2005.
Born in New York City on November 17, 1914, he was the son of the late Michael and Anna (Poulaf) Frei.
Raised in NYC, he honorably served in the U.S. Navy in the Pacific Theater during World War Il. After discharge from the Navy at the conclusion of the war, he returned to his position in accounting and auditing for the Consolidated Edison Company, NYC.
A dedicated volunteer, he was active with the Boy Scouts and related church activities. Upon retirement from Consolidated Edison, he and his wife moved to Eastham, MA on Cape Cod. He enjoyed his retirement as he and his wife were very active with various charitable organizations. They especially were dedicated to the preservation of Cape Cod.
Mr. Frei was the loving father of Christopher Frei and his wife, Flor, Perkasie; the dear brother of Helen Lievere and her husband, Arthur, Long Island, NY; and beloved grandfather of Michelle Frei, Collegeville, and Jonathan Frei and his wife, Ashley, Philadelphia.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, August 24, at 10:00 AM in St. Agnes Catholic Church, 445 North Main Street, Sellersville. Friends and family may call Thursday morning from 9:00 AM until 10:00 AM in the church.
Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Eastham Council on Aging, Nauset Road, Eastham, MA 02642.
