Daniel J. Cassidy, 83, of Dublin, formerly of Trumbauersville and Holland, passed away Wednesday, November 30, 2011, at his residence. He was the beloved husband of Mabel Doris (Ware) Cassidy. They had celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary in May.
Born in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late John and Annie (McDonald) Cassidy. He graduated from North Catholic High School.
Mr. Cassidy had been employed for 43 years by Sears, in Philadelphia, as the East Coast merchandise distributor superintendent.
He was a member of SERACO, a Sears organization.
An avid sports fan, Dan enjoyed watching the Phillies, Eagles and Flyers. In his younger years, he loved to play baseball and still liked collecting baseball caps. He also enjoyed listening to Big Band music.
Besides his many pets, the greatest joy of his life was spending time with his family.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Cassidy is survived by his three children: Barbara J. Tomlinson and her husband, Robert, of Telford; Roy Cassidy and his wife, Chris, of Dublin; Daniel J. Cassidy, Jr. and his wife, Bethanne, of Perkasie; six grandchildren: Christopher Beck; Michael Beck; Alexandra Tomlinson; Robert Tomlinson, Jr.; Joseph Tomlinson; Nicole Amarando; three great-grandchildren: Reed; Maggie; and Marcus Beck; a sister, Anna Marie Tomassi and her husband, Felix, of Philadelphia; a son-in-law, George Beck and his wife, Ann, of Chalfont; and his beloved pets: “Wally,” the dog; “Poco” and “Shrimpy”, the cats; and “Bathsheba,” the horse.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Carolyn D. Beck, in 2001; two brothers; and two sisters.
A graveside service will be held Saturday, December 3, 2011, at 10:00 AM in St. Andrew’s Union Cemetery, Perkasie. A Memorial Service will be held at 10:30 AM in St. Andrew’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Dill and Chestnut, Perkasie immediately following the interment.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Mr. Cassidy’s name to Grand View Hospice, 700 Lawn Avenue, Sellersville, PA 18960.
