Willard E. Benson, a 42-year resident of Hatfield Township, passed away suddenly at his residence on Tuesday, November 9, 2004. He was 77.
He was the beloved husband of Antoinette "Ann" (Schuima) Benson, who died in 1999.
Born in Keyport, N.J., he was a son of the late Howard M. and Elizabeth (Johnson) Benson.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran, having served during World War II.
Mr. Benson had been employed for 22 years as a feeder truck driver with United Parcel Service, Horsham, before retiring in 1994.
He was a parishioner of St. Maria Goretti Catholic Church, Hatfield. He was a member of American Legion Warren Royer Post 234, in Souderton; Teamsters Local 384, of Norristown; and the Keelersville Club, of Perkasie.
Mr. Benson enjoyed golfing.
He is survived by his son, Willard E. Benson, Jr. and his wife, Sandra, of Perkiomenville; two daughters, Linda A. Keller and her husband, John; and Diane L. Keller, all of Sellersville; his grandchildren, Stephen, Melissa, Tim, Jennifer and her husband, Jim, Christopher, Rachel, Dustin, Stacy, Kimberly and Sarah; two brothers, Howard M. Benson Jr. and his wife, Eva, of Hatfield; and Charles Benson and his wife, Ruth, of Holland; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Beatrice and Dorothy.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m., Friday, November 12, in St. Maria Goretti Catholic Church, 1601 Derstine Road, Hatfield, where family and friends may call from 9 until 10:20 a.m.
Interment will be in St. John Neumann Cemetery, Warrington Township.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association, 527 Plymouth Road, Suite 403, Plymouth Meeting, PA 19462.
