Edward Bauman, 86, a 30 year resident of Lansdale, formerly of Perkasie, passed away Tuesday, December 5, in North Penn Hospital, Hatfield Twp. He was the husband of Hilda (Duld) Bauman. They had celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary on November 5.
Born in Munson, he was a son of the late John and Hilda (Gross) Bauman.
Operating his own business for more than 28 years, Mr. Bauman was a grocery retailer of locally grown farm products to the Philadelphia area. He later worked for many years as a security guard, employed by' several companies, including, AMETEK Inc., U.S. Gauge Division in Sellersville, the former Moore Products, in Spring House, and Sears, in Montgomeryville. He retired in 1996.
He was an avid gardener and had tended a garden in Willow Park, in Lansdale, for more than 20 years.
Mr. Bauman was a longtime member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, in Lansdale. Previously, he was a member of St. Andrew's Evangelical Lutheran Church, in Perkasie, where he had served on Church Council.
He was a Mason and a member of MacCalla Lodge No. 596, Free and Accepted Masons, in Telford.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Linda (Bauman) Matarese, and her husband, Domenic, of Arlington, VA; one brother, Albert Bauman, and his wife, Jean, of Sellersville; and one sister, Elsie Bloom, of Sellersville.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral service, Saturday, December 9, at 11:00 A.M. at the Betty Meier Steeley Funeral Home, 87 North Main Street, Sellersville. Friends may call Saturday morning from 10:00 A.M. until time of service at the funeral home.
Interment will be in St. Andrew's Union Cemetery, Perkasie.
