Carl A. Andrews

June 12, 1930 — September 2, 2000

Carl A. Andrews, 70. of Souderton, formerly of Perkasie, passed away Saturday, September 2, in Grand View Hospital, West Rockhill Township. He was the husband of Laura A. (Hauptly-Dengler) Andrews. They celebrated their 12th wedding anniversary last February.

Born in Palmerton, he was one of twelve children born to the late Missouri and Susan (Schindler) Andrews. He became a resident of the Pennridge area in 1957 and has lived there ever since.

He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War and then enlisted in the U.S. Army Reserves, serving 32 years before retiring as a Master Sergeant with the 79th ARCOM Army Reserve Unit, Willow Grove.

Mr. Andrews had been employed as a weld control supervisor for 33 years with the E.G. Budd Company, Huntingdon Valley, retiring in 1986.

He was a longtime member of St. Andrew's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Perkasie ,where he had served as an usher and on the property committee.

He was a past Cub Scoutmaster and Assistant Boy Scout Troop # 11 Leader, Perkasie.

Mr. Andrews was a member of the American Legion Post 234, Souderton, where he had served as Post Commander. He was a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose # 1539, Sellersville; the Order of the Owl’s Nest, Perkasie; the Great Swamp Fish and Game Club, Quakertown; and a past 10 year member of the Silverdale Fire Company.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Karen Neppell Andrews, Esq., and her husband, Robert C. Neppell, Micco, Florida; two sons: Keith Allen Andrews, and his wife, Saundra E.P., Quakertown, and Joel Alan Andrews, and his wife, Pamela M., Lynden, Virginia; five stepchildren: Cynthia Ann, wife of Steven Joseph, Richlandtown : Karen L., wife of Ed Slifer, Telford; Gregory M. Dengler, and his wife, Susan, Quakertown; Christine M., wife of Kim Knechel, Souderton; and Paul B. Dengler, and his wife, Amy, Chapel Hill, Tennessee; two brothers: Edgar Andrews, and his wife, Dolores, Walnutport, PA and Harold Andrews, Slatington,; a sister: Daisy Frey, Ironton, PA; five grandchildren; twenty step-grandchildren; six step-great-grandchlldren; and his faithful dog, "Boots".

He was preceded in death by his twin brother, Kermit J. Andrews, who passed away in 1982. He was additionally preceded in death by six other brothers and one sister: Clinton, Clayton, Harvey, Arlington, Wilson, Francis, and Hattie.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral service, Wednesday, September 6, at 11:00 AM in St. Andrew’s Ev. Lutheran Church, Dill Avenue and Chestnut Street, Perkasie. Friends may call Tuesday evening, September 5, from 7:00 PM until 9:00 PM at the Betty Meier Steeley Funeral Home, 87 North Main Street, Sellersville and at the church, Wednesday morning from 10:00 AM until time of service.

Interment in Whitemarsh Memorial Park, Prospectville.
