Obituary for Gerald P. "Jerry" Walker, Jr.

Gerald P. "Jerry" Walker, Jr.
Gerald P. “Jerry” Walker, Jr., of Perkasie, formerly of Churchville, passed peacefully after a battle with Alzheimer’s on Wednesday, July 11, 2012, at Grand View Hospital, West Rockhill Township. He was 64.

He was the beloved husband of Patricia (McLaughlin) Walker for 38 years.

Born in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late Gerald P. and Margaret (Butler) Walker. He was a 1965 graduate of Father Judge High School.

For 32 years, Jerry was employed with the Federal government in Philadelphia, including working at the Frankford Arsenal and, most recently, at the Bulk Mail Center of the U.S. Postal Service.

He was a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church, Sellersville.

Mr. Walker coached girls' softball and basketball teams in Northampton Township.

Jerry was known for his sense of humor and was always the “center” of attention at all gatherings. He enjoyed personalizing his cars, tinkering in the yard and spending time with his family. His number one talent was his skill at drumming.

In addition to his wife, Jerry is survived by his two children: Trisha A. Curley, and her husband, Joe, of Perkasie; and Gerald P. Walker, III and his wife, Casey, of Warrington; five grandchildren: Kasey, Ryan, Colin, Caitlyn and Madelyn; one brother, John Walker, and his wife, Gen, of Cinnaminson; two sisters: Janice Alley, of Philadelphia; and Margie Salley and her husband, Doug, of Maple Shade.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, July 16, at 10 am in St. Agnes Catholic Church, 445 North Main Street, Sellersville. Family and friends may call Sunday night, July 15, at the Betty Meier Steeley Funeral Home, 87 North Main Street, Sellersville, from 5:30 to 8 pm or at the church Monday morning from 9 to 9:45 am.

Interment will be in Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church Cemetery, Perkasie.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Jerry’s name to the Alzheimer’s Association, Delaware Valley Chapter, 399 Market Street, Suite 102, Philadelphia, PA 19106.
